Planning a wedding this season? Why not an intimate wedding? It's perfect for the bride who’s on a budget but still want to achieve a beautiful and thoughtful celebration.
As I'm writing this, the tide of current events (COVID-19 / Corona Virus pandemic) says we are moving towards supposedly a new normal. The same can be said with how we will handle events, including weddings. However, we shouldn't let current situations and restrictions stop us from celebrating beautiful milestones in our lives. Like they say, #savemilestones.
Forecasts seem to be geared towards intimate weddings. Guess what? We are ready for it! And we can help you pull it off!
Here are 3+ reasons why you should consider going for an intimate wedding:
1. A few but beloved guests.
With intimate weddings, you have a limited guest list reserved for those closest to your heart — your beloved family and friends. This is a good thing! This means you can focus on yourselves and on these select people come wedding day. No more awkward greetings to people you don’t know, no need to worry about notorious eat-and-run guests, instead you can focus on building relationships and growing in love. Your wedding will feel more like a celebration with close-knit friends and family, than a production.
RSVPs and the seat plan won’t be as problematic. It should be easier and faster to get their responses (going or not going). You will also accomplish your table assignments very quickly since you only have 20 to 50 pax on your list.
2. Own your wedding.
With a smaller guest list, there’s definitely less pressure to conform to certain standards or fulfill other’s expectations. You can plan, do as you please, and celebrate your own way — it’s YOUR wedding! Here are ways you can #ownyourwedding:
A more relaxed wedding timeline. For example, you will most likely have your postnup shoot without hearing complaints since the guests know each other and are catching up, conversing, and generally having fun.
You can get creative with your venue options. A smaller guest list means more creative venue options like bed and breakfasts, museums, art galleries and restaurants. Cute right? Imagine the possibilities!
You can choose to be practical or go all out. You may splurge on the things that really matter to you. For example, you can have a wedding dress and a suit which both of you can reuse later on. However, don’t let the intimate wedding set up prevent you from wearing the gown of your dreams. You can still do so. You can still ask the guests to dress to the nines too. You can hire your favorite band you've always dreamed of playing at your wedding or add on that mobile bar for your after party!
Your dream destination wedding is now much more possible! Whether your dream is to get married in a beach paradise such as Palawan or even farther abroad, a smaller guest list will help in making it happen cost-wise and logistically. Asking 150+ people to travel would be trickier you know. See how Mau & Wy pulled off their intimate destination wedding on a budget!
3. Easy on the pocket!
Less costs. This is probably the number 1 reason that should tickle every soon-to-wed’s fancy (and budget)! While you will still need suppliers to help pull off your plans and make sure you have memories encapsulated, costs of an intimate wedding will be cut simply because of its smaller scale. Here’s a preview of what you’d probably spend less on:
Catering or food: This is usually on a per head basis. Big savings on this one! You can choose to allocate part of your wedding budget towards something else. Maybe a bigger and better honeymoon?
Flowers: You can have them just for you and a boutonniere for the groom or include the few members of your entourage.
Styling: Since you'd have a smaller space and fewer tables, you can save on this or you can go bigger and better with the design — something you might not be able to do with a 200 pax guest list.
By now, you’ve probably gotten the picture. Whether you choose to go minimalist, eco-friendly, or lush and luxurious, any type of an intimate wedding is perfect for the bride who’s on a budget but still wants to achieve a beautiful and well-thought-out celebration. Bonus, your wedding will leave an impression. Because your wedding won’t be typical, the kind your guests have been to over and over again, your wedding would more likely be remembered and be one for the books.
